Inside the Recruitment: '15 SS Keaton Sackett commits to LIncoln Trail
January 12, 2015
Keaton Sackett, SS, DeWitt HS, Class of 2015
PBR: Why did you choose Lincoln Trail?
Sackett: The coaching staff really impressed me and I knew it was the best option for me to continue my baseball career. I want to work hard, develop, and win that is what the program is all about.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Sackett: I was looking at Kellogg CC, Northwood, and Davenport. I had received offers from other NAIA and Division 2 schools as well.
PBR: Lincoln Trail is known for sending many of their players to 4 year colleges. How much of a role did that play in your decision to go to Lincoln Trail?
Sackett: That was a big role for me. My goal has always been to play Division 1 baseball and they convinced me that with great work ethic and determination I would have a good opportunity to further my baseball career at a good 4 year school.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?
Sackett: They saw my PBR profile and then went on to my NCSA profile.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.
Sackett: I play for the Capital City Kings. My most memorable moment would be a 7 run comeback that I led off and eventually Zach Berry ended it with a grand slam.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Sackett: I didn't expect the recruiting process to be as stressful as it was. It really showed me how much every play and every at bat potentially means for your future.
PBR: What were your stats this spring?
Sackett: BA=.403 Hits= 52 Doubles=6 Triples=1 Steals=13 RBI=26 Fielding %=.960
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced?
Sackett: In school ball Tanner Allison was the best I faced. Two summers ago I went to the Dominican and faced multiple minor league pitchers from the royals and rangers who were very tough to hit.
