Wake Forest Advances to the 4A State Championship Series
Game 3
Corinth Holders - 4 Wake Forest - 9
The Cougars used three big innings and a 6 inning outing from FR Carson Crider to punch their ticket to the State Championship series. The bottom third of the Wake Forest lineup did a bunch of the damage with FR Stephen Crater accounting for 3 RBI and SR Kyle Brazeau knocking in 6 runs in the win.
The first 9 hitters of the game were set down in order. In the bottom of the 2nd, Cooper Allen led off with a single, and later stole 2B with 1 out. With 2 outs and Allen on 2B, Crater walked and Brazeau homered to center field, putting the Cougars up 3-0. In the 3rd, Luke Stevenson led off by getting hit by a pitch, and moved to 3B on a Carlos Diaz, 1 out, single. Following a strikeout, Crater homered to center giving Wake Forest an early 6-0 lead.
Crider was solid in 6 innings of work, spotted with the early lead. He allowed 2 hits and walked 4, while striking out 3. He threw 97 pitches, 54 for strikes. In game 1 Crider did not record an out, while walking 3, but on this night the Freshman attacked hitters from the outset and allowed his offense some time to get rolling and when he had the lead he slammed the door.
In the 5th Brazeau would clear the bases with a 2 out double to right field, scoring Stevenson, Diaz, and J Bradburry. The 9-0 lead seemingly put the game away and Crider made good on that assumption getting two flyouts and a ground out in a 5 pitch 6th inning. Corinth would score 4 in the 7th when Wake Forest went to the bullpen, but the game was never in doubt.
With the win, Wake Forest will advance to play in the State Championship Series against the West Region Champion, TC Roberson. The games will be played on FRI and SAT in either Holly Springs or Burlington.

Game 3
North Moore - 6 Voyager Academy - 5
An exciting Game 3 would decide who would advance to the 1A State Championship series, and the game came down to the final pitch. North Moore’s bullpen would come up big, tossing 6 innings, striking out 7 as they only surrendered 2 runs. Ultimately North Moore would score 3 runs in their final 2 at-bats to secure the 1A East Championship.
Voyager jumped out in the 2nd, plating 3 runs. Voyager would load the bases on a hit-by-pitch and two singles. The next two hitters would each reach via the hit by pitch before the third run scored on a double play ground ball. Ty Allred entered the game with the bases loaded and 1 run in, working to get North Moore out of the inning. He would hit one hitter, but the double play ground ball was huge and he followed it with a strikeout to limit the damage.
North Moore would tie the game in the 4th starting the inning with 3 straight singles. A bases loaded ground out by W. Kennedy would make it 3-1. Ethan Dunlap followed with a double to right, scoring Patterson and Furr to tie the game at 3-3.

In the top of the 6th, Dawson Futrell doubled to left with 2 outs, scoring Elliott Furr and Dunlap, moving North Moore to the lead at 5-4. The Mustangs would load the bases with 1 out in the top of the 7th where Furr hit a SAC Fly to center field, scoring Dalton Massey and giving North Moore a 2 run cushion into the final half.
With 2 outs and a J Glenn on 3B, B Smith knocked him in with a single to left. Smith would steal 2B in the 0-1 count but was stranded in scoring position as Purvis got a strikeout to end the game.
