With the culmination of the high school season, the 2016 MLB Draft and the start of the Prep Baseball Report summer schedule of events, it is now time to shift our focus to updates to our statewide player rankings .
During the course of this week we will look at updates to the rankings in the Class of 2017, 2018 and 2019. Today we finish the process with a look at the initial rankings for the rising sophomores across the state.
Heading the list is two-sport standout Grant Wells (George Washington). The 6-foot-1, 180-pound SS/RHP followed a breakout season on the football field with an impressive freshman season on the diamond. Wells flashed solid feet (6.95 60-yard dash) and gap-to-gap power with a short, fluid right-handed swing at the 2015 West Virginia Top Prospect Games.
The current list goes just eight players deep, but will grow significantly as this class moves forward in their high school careers.
