No. 8 Rockford Boylan (24-1-1, 13-0 NIC 10) outslugged Belvidere North (10-18, 7-6 NIC 10) behind Sam Rinaldo and Ray Schmid 11-8. Renaldo had three hits, including two doubles and head two RBI for the Titans. Schmid had two singles and also had two RBI.
NONCONFERENCE
No. 19 Nazareth Academy (21-5) rallied past Maine South (11-10) to win the annual “Battle of the Milano Brothers” 9-6 in La Grange Park on Monday. Nazareth Academy, under the tutelage of head coach Lee Milano, scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to erase a 6-5 Maine South (coached by Hawk head coach, Bill Milano) lead. Matt Flach’s RBI triple tied the game at 6-6 and Brandon Bossard’s fourth hit of the game, an RBI single, highlighted a four-run Roadrunner bottom of sixth for the win. Bossard finished with a perfect 4-for-4 game with two doubles and the aforementioned RBI.
ON THE BUBBLE
BIG 12
Big 12 Conference leader Normal West (20-7-1, 12-1 Big 12) moved a step closer to the 2015 B-12C title, by defeating archrival Bloomington 8-5 on Monday. In the B-12C conference matchup, the Wildcats were led by sophomore Peyton Dillingham and Reid Birlingmair. Dillingham had two hits including a double and drove home two Wildcat runs. Birlingmair chipped in with a single and also had two Wildcat RBI. In the nonconference second game, the Wildcats hammered the Purple Raiders 12-3.
BIG NORTHERN EAST
Rockford Christian (27-5, 10-2 Big Northern East) defeated Harvard (11-9, 5-5 Big Northern East) behind Nolan Gazouski and Alec Powell 7-5. Gazouski went deep for the Royal Lions with the bases juiced while Powell chipped in with a double and an RBI for the Royal Lions.
EAST SUBURBAN CATHOLIC
Notre Dame (20-7, 7-5 East Suburban Catholic) blanked St. Patrick 1-0 behind a combined three-hit shutout from Tim Simon, Sam Ferri, Brandon Nowak and Nick Stefanowicz. Nowak picked up the win firing two hitless innings at the Shamrocks. Stefanowicz pitched a scoreless seventh to nail down the save. The Dons had but one hit, a single by Tim Norton in the bottom of the fourth who would score the lone run of the game on a wild pitch.
FOX VALLEY VALLEY
Cary-Grove (18-6-2, 12-1 Fox Valley Valley) destroyed Huntley 15-2 in five innings behind Matt Sutherland and Tyler Pennington. Sutherland went 3-for-3 with a double and drove home four Trojan runs. Pennington fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and had three RBI while Red-Hot Wyatt Mascarella and George Hardtke both went deep for the FVC-Valley leading Trojans.
NONCONFERENCE
Geneseo (24-2) rallied past Rock Island Alleman and won in walk-off fashion 3-2 on Monday. Trailing 2-0 as the game moved to the bottom of the seventh, Devin Haxby’s RBI single cut the Alleman lead in half at 2-1. Greg Rusk followed with a single to right scoring Bo Lindstrom with the tying run and Haxby with the Maple Leaf walk-off game winner sending Maple Leaf fans dancing onto State Street.
OTHER GAMES
METRO SUBURBAN WEST
Wheaton Academy (19-6, 12-1 Metro Suburban West) blasted Immaculate Conception 10-0 behind a no-hitter from Jake Lindstedt. Linstedt fanned 13 Knight batters on his way to his no-no. Harrison Taylor had two hits including a solo-blast for the Warriors. Luke Kramm chipped in with three RBI for the Metro Suburban West leaders.
