The IHSA Class 3A and 4A playoff play-in games took place yesterday. Class 1A and 2A playoffs started last week and region champions have been decided.

As this year's 3A and 4A state tournament ramps up, we take a look at how the state tournament could potentially play out. We skipped regionals and went straight to picking the sectional final matchups.

Due to the seeding format being based geographically, there are a number of loaded sectionals. In Class 4A, the McHenry Sectional features No. 14 Huntley, No. 18 Crystal Lake South, No. 19 Cary-Grove, No. 24 Barrington and McHenry who spent time in the Top 25 this spring.

The St. Laurence Sectional is loaded with most of the top teams from the Chicago Catholic League Blue; No. 2 St. Rita, No. 4 St. Laurence, No. 6 Brother Rice and No. 12 Mount Carmel. Also, throw Lyons Township into the mix, from the West Suburban Conference, for good measure. Lyons is currently ranked No. 10 in the Power 25 and is 23-4-1 overall.

In Class 3A, the Chatham-Glenwood Sectional looks to be one of the toughest. It includes No. 20 Glenwood, No. 25 Sacred Heart-Griffin, Mt. Zion (22-7), Champaign Central (25-9-1), Effingham (24-5) and Rochester (25-9).
