As teams around the state kicked-off their 2015 season yesterday with the first day of official team practice, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana released its class of 2015 top 50 rankings. Today we take a closer look at the rankings, which find six uncommitted players heading into their senior seasons. Yesterday we looked at three of those uncommitted players in: Tyler Reid, Jack Burk, and Brennan Breaud. Today we will look at the other three players that found themselves in or top 50, yet remain uncommitted.
Coming in at No. 20 and the highest ranked uncommitted player left is outfielder from Franklinton HS, Josh Magee. Standing at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds with an athletic build and clear fast twitch actions. Magee is an above average runner as he has run the 60 yard dash in 6.59 seconds and also displays a quality throwing arm from the outfield. A right-handed hitter with a short, compact swing that has ample bat speed and displays advanced strike zone discipline for a high school hitter.
Andrew Lowe, a 6-foot-2 right-hander from Airline HS came in at No. 39 and has been flying under the radar until very recently. Lowe has pitched 87-89 mph and will run it up to 90mph with a quality breaking ball with 11/5 shape, tight spin and depth at 73-75 mph. Lowe is a quality, developmental arm that remains unsigned, but will go quickly this spring if command and control continue to improve.
No. 49 in our rankings, Kelsey Ockman, a 5-foot-10 right-hander from Mandeville HS. Ockman will pitch 85-87 mph touching 88 mph with occasional sink and late life. There is effort in the delivery with an explosive lower half and some funkiness to the arm action, but he repeats fairly well and throws strikes. The breaking ball is inconsistent at times, but he will flash a tight spinning slider with depth and deception that shows promise.
Please keep an eye out as Prep Baseball Report Louisiana will begin a schedule of events once the spring season has concluded. Also, if you have not done so already, please click the link to fill out this free player profile to get your recruiting process started now.
