X-FACTOR
Louisiana Tech recruit, LHP Matthew Delcambre, will be playing his first season with Acadiana this spring, as the 2017 graduate spent the previous years with his home-schooled based team. Delcambre is still relatively new to the mound, but has shown flashes of great promise during the summer and fall months. A physical 6-foot-3, 205-pound left-hander with a long, clean arm action and solid arm speed, Delcambre has ingredients that attract coaches and professional scouts. In addition, Delcambre will some left-handed thump, to an already solid Ram lineup.

OUTLOOK
Coach Matt McCullough certainly had his team playing their best baseball of the season at the right time in 2016, as the Rams pulled off a few upsets on their way to the class 5A semi-finals. His club looks to be in good shape in 2017, as they return seven position players. Veterans like 3B Hunter Tabb and C/RHP Branon Pope, have already proven they can perform on the biggest stages. Pope was a standout at the Preseason All-State Games earlier this fall, where he showed big arm strength (93 mph from OF, 83 mph from C), quick transfers, and solid receiving skills. Tabb will provide right-handed thump somewhere in the middle of the order, as he looks to have a breakout junior campaign.

BOTTOM LINE
The Rams play in the best baseball district in the state of Louisiana, hands down. District 3-5A will once again be loaded from top to bottom, and when district play rolls around anything is possible. Acadiana is a veteran club that got a taste of big success in the 2016 playoffs, can they build on the momentum as they created last season, as they take on district rivals Barbe, Lafayette, Sulphur, Sam Houston, Comeaux, and New Iberia?
