BASE CAMP
Hopko has improved on all of his measurables from last year’s Presason Southern Tier event. At the NYS Games in June, he took his exit velocity from 89 to 93 MPH and his positional velocity from 76 to 79 MPH. Later in the fall at the Fall Top Prospect Games, he stepped right off the football field and showed improved speed by lowering his 60 time from 7.49 to 7.31 seconds.

REACHING THE SUMMIT
"While checking in the rankings at number 19 does not leave a ton of room to rise, Hopko has the size, tools, and skills to continue climbing the ladder of the best players in the 2022 class. It is nice to see a prospect with his athleticism continue to add speed to his game. This will allow Hopko to stick in the outfield, where I believe is his best suited position in the future as it places more value on his bat. All indications are that he has a chance to be a special offensive player and added strength from weight room work and maturity will start seeing his loud gap shots start carrying over the fence. My first thought after seeing his round of BP was “Andrew Benintendi”, and while that is a lofty comparison, it speaks to the potential that Hopko possesses."
PLAYER COMPARISON
*Note: Many times coaches will ask our staff "Who does he remind you of?" Player "comps" are a popular tool in the scouting/recruiting world and we have decided to add that niche to our feature articles. Sometimes it's within the physical build, the numbers, the actions or a combination of all three.
