2017 RHP/CIF Griffin Metheny’s big day leads Harding Academy past Riverview with the score of 13-3. Metheny was 1 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. On the mound he picked up the win, throwing 3 innings allowing 2 runs, 2 hits while striking out 2.

Metheny had a great day but he wasn’t alone, his teammates gave him plenty of support with a strong defense working out of jams with a bases loaded in the bottom of the first to deflate Rivercrest early. Offensive support was plentiful as the Wildcats pounded out 10 hits to capitalize on the Rivercrest errors. 2018 MIF Pate Fullerton and 2018 MIF Dalton Koch set the table at the top of the line up with multiple hits and scored a combined 7 runs.

Rivercrest’s 2018 RHP/CIF Alex Langley was solid pitching 4 innings allowing 7 hits, 3 earned runs, while striking out 6 and walking three. At the plate Langley was 1 for 2 with a walk and run scored.

Overall Harding Academy is a polished team right now with depth throughout the lineup and versatile athletes that defend. Rivercrest did not show well as a young team trying to compete against one of the state’s elite. They committed 8 errors and walked 3 and Harding took full advantage of it.
