Marple Newtown 6, Upper Darby 0

The defending PIAA Class 5A state champs picked up win number 10 on the season behind a complete game effort from 2020 SS/RHP Shane Benedict. The junior went the distance on just 90 pitches while allowing three hits. The righty struck out five and walked three on the afternoon.

Richmond recruit Alden Mathes, ranked No. 47 in the PA Class of 2019, scored twice and tripled twice in his four plate appearances to lead the offense. 2020 catcher Erik Molinaro went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Jack Mulgrew hit his first varsity home run in support of Benedict.

Marple Newtown improved to 10-2-1 on the season while Upper Darby fell to 1-12 with the loss.
