Seven runs scored in the first two innings was more than enough run support for the Manheim Central Barons to coast to a 10-3 victory over Pequea Valley on Tuesday in Manheim. The Barons (10-4) sent 15 batters to the plate over the course of the first two innings giving starter Chad Neely plenty of breathing room. Neely picked up the win going three scoreless innings while yielding just three hits.
Offensively Manheim Central tallied nine hits and four extra-base hits most of which were collected by two players. Senior Dan Weiderrecht (top right), a Messiah
commit, and uncommitted senior Blake Reiff (bottom right) combined for four doubles, five runs scored, seven hits and five RBI. Reiff banged out three doubles while driving in four runs in a 3-for-4 night at the plate. Weiderrecht was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double of his own.
Pequea Valley managed just three hits on the evening with Jason Brown leading the charge going 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of runs driven in. The Braves (3-12) return to action tomorrow welcoming Lebanon Catholic for a home game while the Barons make a trip to Norther Lebanon tomorrow for a 4:15 start.
