GPA Games: Statistical Analysis

For the fourth straight year, PBR Illinois hosted the GPA Games at Lee Pfund Stadium at Wheaton College, on Aug. 11. This one-of-a-kind showcase is targeted for those 2020 and 2021 prospects looking to leverage their skills on the diamond and in the classroom into opportunities to play baseball at the next level. Taking the field on Sunday were prospects not only from Illinois, but also from Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan.
Uncommitted prospects participated in a pro-style workout and a simulated game in front of the PBR Illinois scouting staff. To look back at a sortable board of all measured statistics from everyone in attendance, click here.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
TOP 60-YARD DASH
Four runners earned sub-7.00 times on Sunday, including uncommitted Bartlett senior OF Blake Oliver. Three 2021 prospects filled out the rest: Indiana's Reese Harmon (Columbus North) and two Wisconsin prospects, Jared Mitchell (Random Lake) and Wolfgang Kalz (Appleton West).

MAX FASTBALL VELOCITY
Connor Cassady (2020), from Lyons Township, led the day by topping out at 85 mph from the bump. Fellow 2020 right-hander from Lake Forest, Robby Gray, topped 84 mph.

TOP EXIT VELOCITY
Oliver made his presence felt here, too, at the exit velocity station, recording the best mark of the day at 91 mph. St. Laurence's Daniel Baumgartner (2021) also popped a 90 mph, the second-highest exit mark of the event.

TOP INFIELD VELOCITY
Lake Zurich's Sam Holtz (2021) comfortably topped the top of the infield velocity leaderboard, recording an 83 mph top across the diamond.

Harmon, who earned a spot near the top of the leaderboard of the 60-yard chart, also recorded the highest outfield velo by three ticks, at 87 mph. Zachary Lorentsen (Wheaton North) and Oliver, again, also showed well here.
