Team Georgia: Game 2 Recap
July 29, 2023
It is day 2 of PBR Future Games and Georgia is trying to get their first win of the tournament after falling to New Jersey last night. The boys are taking on team Indiana today who has also not had a win. Georgia took no time putting runs on the board with 3 in the top of the 1st. This included a run on an error and a 2 run RBI triple from Michael Dee. Eston Simpson started off pitching for Georgia. Simpson was able to control the game pitching 2 no-hit innings and gathering 3 strikeouts. In the top of the second Henry Akopov hit a double where he then was able to steal third base and home to extend Georgia’s lead. The runs kept rolling in with Jared Glenn hitting a RBI triple in the top of the 3rd. Cooper Underwood took over pitching for the 3rd and 4th. Unfortunately Underwood had trouble finding the zone and Indiana scored 3 runs in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th. But, Underwood was able to hold Indiana enough to maintain Georgia’s lead. Underwood had 4 different pitch types including a slider with a spin rate over 3k. Top of the 4th rolled around and Georgia kept the rally going with 3 more runs this inning; John Stuetzer having an RBI double. Georgia scored another run in the 5th. Judson Hartwell had a single with a 100EV. Matthew Pearch pitched the 5th and 6th inning for Georgia. Pearch shutout Indiana not allowing any more runs. In the top of the 7th Georgia scored 2 more runs. Terrance Bowen hit a ground rule double having a 97 EV and letting in 1 run. Aiden Kitchings came in to pitch for the 7th. He held Indiana to 2 runs for the inning. Georgia's offense did not slow down. Brady Christman hit a 3 run RBI double with a 99EV in the 7th. In total Georgia scored 4 runs that inning calling it with no outs. Landon Ludwig closed out the game quickly hitting 90 multiple times with his fastball. Georgia dominated against Indiana coming out on top 15-9. They are looking to keep this momentum going tomorrow against Texas for the final day of Future Games.

Minimal negative move creates EZ lower half momentum as base doubles in stride. Allows him to make consistent contact outside front foot. A/AVG spd w/ future + raw power. Present bat speed, highly projectable bat.#PBRFG23 pic.twitter.com/6s5j5mMX5t
‘25 SS/OF John Stuetzer impressed w/ 2 of the loudest barrels of the game. Rarely misses the FB middle in. Big time competitor and let’s the athleticism take over. Can pick it at SS or run it down in CF. #PBRFG23 @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/CVcVKbpv0X

Many whiffs on deceptive, late tailing FB. Sweeping CB for strikes, tight 2 plane SL to wipe em out. Flashed CH. Love AA, clean elbow lift & spiral. Lead arm matches slot.

Mr. QAB continued to show off his advanced plate discipline, hand-eye, and elite baseball IQ. 2BB, 3R, and this effortless 90 EV laser to the oppo gap. Tough to find a swing more well sequenced. @ShooterHunt #PBRFG23 pic.twitter.com/ybEFFHpBvm

Timed up & tracking well in each game despite a tough strike zone. Shows his ability to adjust here on this SL - Sees spin➡️slows the stretch➡️softens landing➡️back knee adjustment post landing puts him on plane. Also threw a dime to HP.@ShooterHunt #PBRFG23 pic.twitter.com/D5K4Fonvzq
