The second of four preseason I.D. showcases is now in the books after the Fox Cities Preseason I.D. showcase concluded Saturday. Several of the state’s already ranked players showed off the hard work of their off-season, while a number of under the radar prospects came to the forefront. Here’s a look at a few standouts from Saturday’s event.

• There must be something in the water at the Fox Cities Preseason ID as two years in a row Wisconsin showcase records have been broken there. Last year Griffin Doersching set the exit velocity record hitting 110 off the tee and Nicholas Urban-Michalak set the infield velocity record with a 93 mph across the diamond. This year Pierce Blohowiak (Xavier, 2018) set the 60 yard dash record running a blazing 6.40 to go along with an 89 mph arm from the outfield and a 93 mph exit velocity from the tee.

• LHP Brennan Dolwick (Lake Mills, 2018) took a step forward this winter flashing an 89 mph fastball, while sitting 87 mph. A three mph jump since his outing at the Future Games last summer.

• A pair of 2020’s showed well on the mound. LHP Kaden Krueger (Appleton West) topped out at 81 mph with a short clean arm action. West Bend West’s Gavin Hinckley showed an advanced three pitch arsenal sitting 81-82 mph. Hinkley, a two-way play was also one of the top 2020 position players as well.

• The mound also unveiled a pair of under the radar 2018’s. 6-foot-7, 185-pound RHP, Parker Heidorf (Pewaukee, 2018) showed a lively fastball that jumped through the zone at 84-85 mph with tilt. Wausau West’s RHP Chandler Fochs showed a hard biting slider at 76-77 mph with plus potential paired with an 84-86 mph fastball.

• 2019 RHP Trey Bretl (Marinette) sat 80-84 mph with his fastball that shows sinking action.

• SS Devin Toburen (Greenwood, 2018) threw 84 mph across the infield and had 90 mph exit velocity. Toburen is a wiry athlete at 6-foot-2 and 175-pounds.

• Behind the plate C Matt Miller (Sussex Hamilton) popped 2.00-2.11 and threw 80 mph from the crouch. In bullpens, Miller has quiet actions behind the plate with soft hands and good flexibility in the lower half.

• 5-foot-8, 160-pound catcher Stevie Diderrich (Oconomowoc) has added noticeable strength over the winter. He popped an event best 1.94-2.01, threw 77 mph from the crouch, and showed strength through contact with 91 mph exit velocity.
