The Florida Diamond Club showcase at the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers is always an event loaded with the top talent throughout Florida and Puerto Rico. Last years event alone saw 27 of its participants drafted, including first round picks Connor Scott, Triston Casas and Xavier Edwards. While the 2019 class may not have quite the same top end talent, there are a lot of players all across the state who you could see go on Day 1 of the 2018 MLB Draft.

With the newly released Draft100, Florida is always near the top of the list at the number of players mentioned. This year, Florida has fifteen players on the updated Draft100 and many more who could crack that list in the coming week. Of those 15, 8 were in attendance over the weekend as well as 31 of the top 50 and 44 of the top 100 in 2019 and 3 of the top 5 in the 2020 class.

Today we will take a look at the Cubs, who represented players from north Florida. Most notable on the Cubs were Connor Walsh, Tyler Owens and Tyler Callihan who are all in the top 10 of the 2019 class and all lived up to the hype. Owens, may have been the most impressive arm of the weekend, working his fastball up to 95 while Callihan was arguably the top offensive player of the weekend.

While the trio certainly didn’t disappoint, quite a few other players helped themselves over the weekend as well. Nathan Hickey, high school teammates of Callihan, seemingly didn’t miss a barrel the entire weekend, which culminated in a home run he crushed to right. Bo Bonds was also another player who had a nice weekend for himself, standout out defensively as a catcher and a solid two innings on the mound.

An extremely talented group overall, we now take a look at the breakdown of each and every player on the Cubs roster. Make sure to subscribe and follow along as we will continue to break down each and every player in attendance leading up to Jupiter.
