Day One Scout Blog
Alonzo Austin III SS / 2B / Trinity Christian Academy, FL / 2022Athletic middle infielder who has played both second and short during the game. Athletic actions with a quick first step. Offensively, let’s the ball travel as he collected two hard hits back the other way.

Jacob Blackmon RHP / Smiths Station, AL / 2021Rankings StateRank: 120 / POS: 43
Athletically built, he worked through a tough first inning and showed an early ability to adjust. In the second and moving forward he attacked with an up tempo delivery and quick arm with a fastball up to 93 mph, mostly 90-91 mph. A bit sporadic with command, but became effectively wild, striking out 8 after settling in. He has upside and showed an overall ability to adjust with a quick arm and athleticism.

Cody Carwile LHP / Fleming Island, FL / 2021Rankings StateRank: 90 / POS: 7
A long, lean frame with broad shoulders and long arms. Has some tentativeness at times, but the arm really works well. Athletic, clean, easy and in line. As he gains conviction the fastball jumped to 88, working mostly 84-85 mph. Both the curveball and changeup showed above average potential. The frame, arm action and athleticism lend to a high ceiling and as he continues to log innings, should make a big jump.
Logan Clark OF / RHP / St.Petersburg, FL / 2020Brevard College commit. Athletic leadoff guy collected multiple hits on the day including a long double to the warning track. Clark showed an easy compact swing with above average barrel awareness.
Leo Diaz C / OF / Oakleaf, FL / 2022Strong framed catcher stood out offensively. Quick hands with a violent swing. Showed pull side power. Recorded exit velocities of 94, 94, and 100 on three hard hit balls.
Carson Dorsey LHP / OF / J.R. Arnold, FL / 2021Medium frame, lean built LHP, w/ a whippy, quick arm. The FB (84-86, T 87) has some riding life w/ some arm-side run at the bottom of the zone. Still developing a feel for the CB (64-70). Most have sweeping break, but when right has downward ¾ tilt. As the delivery develops and becomes more consistent, the command and the effectiveness and consistency of stuff will drastically improve.
Nathan Martinez SS / 2B / Vista Murrieta , CA / 2021Nevada commit. Athletic middle infielder has made plays look easy today. Quick first step with soft hands and an above average arm. Offensively has a simple, quiet setup and attacks the baseball with a violent swing. Launched a triple to the right-center gap.
Josue Matos RHP / Seminole, FL / 2021Tall long legged right hander. True over the top delivery. Worked 81-84 with the fastball. Showed feel for the 12/6 curveball. Struck out 7 in 5 innings of work.
Justin Mayes 1B / LHP / Calvary Christian, FL / 2023Projectable athleticism on the mound from the left side sitting 80-83 mph. Went 3.0, 0 H, 0 ER, 5 K’s. Struggle with control causing 6 BB’s. At the plate, two line drives to CF, coming off bat at 87 and 89 mph. Overall Mayes is a projectable athletic 2-way guy, arm works well for age and is only going to get better.
Justin Montanez OF / RHP / Nature Coast Tech, FL / 2021Physical, athletic frame. Hit the ball hard all game with exit velos of 98 and 90. 2-3 with a double and single.
