Fall Uncommitted Only South MS Showcase Recap
November 23, 2020
Our last event of the Fall this past weekend at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC did not disappoint. We definitely look forward to following this group and seeing several of them drop the “uncommitted” from their profile very soon!
Here are a few standouts from the event (but not all)…..

With a frame that has plenty of room for added muscle, Scarborough could develop into a big time prospect. Looks to have a slightly pull side approach but shows some ability to go the other way. Nice leverage with some loft should send a few over the wall. Solid behind the plate with good feet and a quick transfer to release. On the mound he was up to 86 mph, looking fairly effortless in his delivery.

Vance shows the ability to be a contributor at most positions on the field, although middle infield is where he normally plays. Up to 80 mph across the diamond the 2021 could also give coaches innings on the mound as his fastball gets up to 84 mph with feel for his off-speed stuff. Shows good speed as well with a 6.82 60 time.

Another frame that will allow room for added power, Herbison looked very polished on the mound. Showed a very repeatable and fluid delivery with a fastball that reached 84 mph, along with a breaking ball with tight spin. In the outfield, his arm had lots of carry and accuracy. At the plate Ryan used a very balanced and simple approach while spraying line drives to all fields.

With continued focus behind the plate Merkle could develop into a top catching prospect. He already shows great footwork and a very quick transfer to release. Lots of linear direction to targets and accuracy. Arm works and should continue to get stronger.

Using a very athletic and maturing build, Little is starting to draw some attention. With the ability to play the infield, its hard to imagine not using his 6.65 speed roaming the outfield. Showed carry on his throws with accuracy from both the outfield and infield positions. Found plenty of gaps at the plate using a controlled load and slight toe tap into stride.
