FUTURE GAMES: Position Player Standouts (2020)
August 23, 2018
The dust is starting to settle on another outstanding PBR Future Games. More than 250 college coaches were in attendance this year to watch close to 500 of the top, uncommitted underclassmen compete in Indianapolis at the beginning of August. Needless to say, the talent level did not disappoint. Electric arms clashed with physical bats while slick fielders looked to deny hits. Each of the players at the event showcased a strong chance to compete at a high level moving forward. This week, On the Hunt, looks at 11 position players from the 2020 class who stood out for performances and projection. Moving forward there will be plenty more breakdowns including a host of prospects that committed directly following the event, 2020 pitchers, and some of the elite 2021’s that were in attendance.
Tavian Josenberger SS / 2B / Park Hill, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 5
Josenberger spent the summer playing for the much-heralded Royals Scout Team out MO/KS area that included some of the top players in the 2020 and 2021 classes. The entire team was stacked with talented prospects all over the field. Josenberger, an athletic, switch-hitting middle-infielder on the squad was impressive all summer, but may have saved his best for last. The 6-foot, 155-pounder soaked up the spotlight at the PBR Oklahoma Limited Series, and left no doubt as one of the top players at the Future Games. Featuring a smooth, controlled swing from both sides of the plate, his quick, twitchy-hands drive flat through the zone to produce gap to gap power that should increase as he continues to fill out his wiry frame. He roped a home run off the scoreboard in game, and showcased the smooth hands and footwork to stick at shortstop moving forward.
