Evaluating the Infielders from the Eastern PA Top Prospect Showcase

Thirteen infielders showcased their abilities at the Eastern PA Top Prospect Showcase with three prospects from the Class of 2014 standing out.
Brandon Wetzel (West York), Class of 2014, 2B/SS
Wetzel had a solid day all around. Wetzel showed quick feet and soft hands on throws of 74mph across the infield. Offensively the 5-foot-8, 150-pound left handed hitter showcased a short stroke and quick hands that enabled him to square the baseball consistently to all fields. Wetzel had the top bat exit speed velo of all middle infielders at 80mph.
Ted Williams (Meadville), ranked No. 40 in the Class of 2014, 2B/SS
Williams ran the second best 60-yard dash of the event at 7.21 and had the top infield arm at 78mph. He showcased smooth glove work and good range while taking precise routes to the baseball. Offensively Williams showed quick hands and the ability to conistently square up the baseball on line drives to all fields.
Alex Salesky (Wilson), Class of 2014, C/3B
Salesky is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound C/3B who showcased extremely well. He displayed soft hands and good range from third base. Salesky showed good instincts and good carry on throws of 74mph across the infield. Offensively, he used a 72mph bat exit speed velo to consisitently square the baseball and produced line drives to all fields.

2013:
Trevor Seibel (Ephrata), 2B/3B
Seibel is a 5-foot-8, 165-pound right handed hitter who had a solid round of batting practice. Seibel utilized a short, compact swing path to spray baseballs to all fields. Seibel showcased decent range and solid hands from his infield position. He ran a 7.57 60-yard dash and threw 66mph across the infield.
2014:
Cal Sanelli (Covenant Christian Academy), 3B/SS
Sanelli ran a 7.59 60-yard dash and threw 70mph across the infield. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound right handed hitter likes the pull side of the field and consistently squared up baseballs on the inner half to left field. Sanelli showcased a solid 79 mph bat exit speed velo.
Colin Gurt (Palmyra), 1B
Gurt is a lefty that shows some polish around the bag. He showcased soft hands and threw 70mph across the infield. Gurt ran a 7.53 60-yard dash, but was most impressive at the plate. Offensively the left handed hitter used quick hands and a short swing path to consistently square the baseball. Gurt will need to improve his lower half to get additional pop, but he showed the ability to be a consistent line drive hitter.
Tyler Potutschnig (Glendale), 3B/RHP
Potutschnig is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect with a solid frame. He ran a 7.42 60-yard dash and threw 73mph across the infield. The two-way player utilized a 71mph bat exit speed velo to consistently square the baseball to all fields during his round of batting practice.
Zach Newmyer (Red Land), 3B/RHP
Newmyer is a solid 6-foot, 170-pound prospect with a long, loose throwing motion. He showed the ability to make all plays at third base and showcased good carry on throws of 72mph across the infield. Newmyer displayed a 78mph bat exit speed velo during a round of batting practice that saw him drive the baseball consistently. He used a solid lower half to consistently square the baseball.
Evan Myers (Pope John Paul II), RHP/1B
Myers is a two-way player who threw 66mph across the infield. He showcased a 78mph bat exit speed velo that he put to good use in a solid round of batting practice. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect used a short, balanced swing path to consistently drive baseballs to all fields.
Scott Bean (Lake Lehman), RHP/1B
Bean is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound two-way prospect with projectable size. He showed one of the better bat exit speed velos of the day at 81mph. Bean has an athletic approach at the plate, stays inside the baseball and demonstrated the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Bean showed fluid actions at first base and a good arm (76mph) across the infield.
Michael Adams (Cumberland Valley), RHP/1B
Adams is a two-way player with a very projectable 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame. Adams showcased one of the best bat exit speed velos of the day at 85mph. He displayed a short swing path resulting in line drives to all fields with some gap power. He also demonstrated the ability to make all plays at first base. Adams could be a two-way player to watch in the Class of 2014.
Ben Keyser (Warwick), SS/2B
Keyser has a sollid frame at 5-foot-10, 190-pounds. He ran a 7.52 60-yard dash and threw 68mph across the infield. Keyser used an 82mph bat exit speed velo to square the baseball repeatedly in a very solid round of batting practice. Keyser used a short, compact swing to consistently line baseballs to all fields.
2015:
Christopher Panzarella (Hazleton), SS/2B
Panzarella is a big, sturdy middle infielder who showed promise. The 6-foot-1, 170-poound prospect threw 74mph across the infield and had a bat exit speed velo of 79mph. Panzarella showed an advanced approach at the plate for a player his age, driving baseballs to all fields. He displayed some gap power potential as well.
