The Barnstormers were crowned champions of the 4th Annual 2017 Empire Cup with a 7-2 win over Saugerties. Ben Lavery, Jack Flaherty and Greg Wyman limited Saugerties to 2 runs on the day. Saugerties scored its other run on a steal of third, advancing to home plate as the throw sailed into left field. Dan Miller pitched for Saugerties, he battled into the 5th, but he was credited with the loss.
Barnstormers swung the bat well throughout the game, Jake Reinisch showed promise with the bat from the left-side, doubling off the right center wall. Ben Lavery had two singles, Jim Davis had a double and a single, Sam Law had 2 hits on the day, and Nick Lemire and Tom Harkin chipped in offfensively as well. The big hit was a 2 run double by Jack O'Leary, clearing the bases in the 6th to put the game out of reach.
