The Elite Prospect Showcase brought together 68 prospects from four states on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy. The day included players participating in three waves with a number of impressive performances. Following is a look at six position players that stood out during the course of the day.
On Tuesday we will begin to analyze players by position beginning with a look at those prospects that participated as pitchers. For a look at complete results for all prospects in attendance CLICK HERE.
Six Prospects That Stood Out:
+ 2018 1B Matt Hayes (Lakeland) turned in the top round of batting practice on the day repeatedly driving baseballs to all parts of the field with present power. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed hitter displayed and explosive lower half and the ability to stay in the hitting zone with a flat barrel path while registering the top bat exit velocity of the day at 96 mph. + 2019 OF/RHP Austin Bradbury (Cedar Cliff) impressed with a projectable 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame and above average athletic actions in everything that he does. The two-way prospect ran a 6.89 60-yard dash, flashed 91 mph arm strength from the outfield, registered a 94 mph bat exit velocity and topped at 84 mph off the bump. (pictured top middle)
+ 2018 3B Nate Thomas (St. Elizabeth, DE) has a college ready frame at 6-foot-5, 200-pounds. Thomas showcased athletic actions and plenty of fast-twitch actions in running a 6.73 60-yard dash and registering a 92 mph bat exit velocity. The left-handed hitter repeatedly rifled baseballs to the pull side with the potential for middle of the order power at the next level. The current third baseman will likely make the move across the diamond in the future while his foot speed would also play as a corner outfielder. (pictured top right)
+ 2019 OF Connor Rakow (Franklin Area) stood out with his athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame and athletic actions across the board. The sophomore ran a 6.88 60-yard dash, flashed 85 mph arm strength from the outfield and displayed a fluid right-handed swing with an 88 mph bat exit velocity. (pictured bottom left)
+ 2018 1B/RHP Colin Macko (Crestwood) continued to impress with his two-way skill set. The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder ran a 6.97 60-yard dash and showcased a fluid left-handed swing with present pull side power (87 mph bat exit velocity). Macko also sat 81-83 on the mound with a long, loose delivery that could lead to significant velocity gains moving forward. (pictured bottom middle)
+ 2018 2B/RHP Len Asari (Cherry Hill East, NJ) gets a lot out of his 5-foot-6, 135-pound frame. The New Jersey prospect ran a 6.90 60-yard dash and flashed athletic actions with a quick release defensively. The right-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely with a compact, repeatable line drive stroke during his round of batting practice. Asari completed his well-rounded day by sitting 78-79 off the mound. (pictured bottom right)
