Scouting Report

6/13/21

Physical: Projectable, athletic 6-foot-2, 185lb frame with some length in the actions. 7.51 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Slightly bent, open stance with the barrel resting on the shoulder to start; initiated from a stretched position through a flat path coupled with a short, controlled toe-tap stride in order to stay balanced/repeatable during his operation. Quick hands and consistent path to the baseball allowing for hard contact/lift at the front of the plate (50% fly ball rate via Trackman). Generated a standout 40% hard hit rate (batted balls over 90 mph) reaching a peak of 95 mph on a laser off the LCF wall. Matched pitch plane well with adjustability from the right side (67% on-plane efficiency) pointing to the chance to hit for AVG as well.

Defensively: The primary backstop displayed a flexible LKD receive stance with a soft, absorbing glove hand on the corners. Attacked the baseball but was subtle in the hand movements, popping a 1.90-1.97 in showcase setting. Got the back foot on the ground with confidence during catch/throw phase. Slight pre-catch rhythm and really gets to the front side well with intent on the release through high ¾ (75 mph arm). Good target when blocking with recovery skills evident; leadership intangibles and knows how to handle a pitching staff. The secondary third baseman featured good range laterally and a quick first step with slight downhill chest angles at the fielding window. Used two hands out in front of his body funneling inward with solid pace across the diamond from a whippy arm action (79 mph, accurate). Could handle one of three infield positions moving forward (C, 3B, 1B) in that order.

2/14/21

Physical: 6-foot-2, 185LBS. 7.25SEC 60-Yard Dash.

Offensive: RHH. Open stance with feet slightly wider than shoulder width. Uses a toe tap to work back towards the pitcher. Simultaneously the hands work straight back and the barrel twirls. Slightly downhill bat path and a high finish.

Defensively: Primary C. Receives out of a two knee up stance with a wide set up. Hops into a secondary stance and keeps weight on balls of feet. Slight left knee tilt as he is receiving the pitch. Works in a straight line towards 2B. Transfers at chest height. At 3B walks in as pitch is delivered. Active feet throughout the fielding process. Funnels to belt line and makes the exchange there. Whippy arm action.

6/15/20

Physical: Large, physical 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. 7.34 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Slightly bent, even stance with looseness in the setup, hands start low at the shoulder with wiggle and move slightly above along with a short toe tap stride for timing mechanism. Creates advanced barrel whip through the point of contact, utilizing a flat barrel path into the hitting zone. The swing plays in game as well with a short time to contact generating plenty of hard barrels. Pounded the LCF during batting practice with hard line drives and showcased present pull-side carry when catching the ball out in front. Hits into a stiff front side yielding a 93 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman.

Defensively: Quality receiver behind the dish while beating the ball to the spot more often than not. Pop times ranged from 2.01-2.19 on accurate throws on the bag. Utilized power in the lower half to get out of the crouch creating quick straight line footwork towards second base. Transfers were fluid and quick allowing for a short takeaway and long high ¾ arm-slot out in front on the release. Moves with relative ease to either side of the plate while blocking allowing for soft shields and downward chest angles, recovery ability is there with knowledge of where the runner is. C - 67 MPH.
