East Coast Pro: Day 3 Notebook

The third day of the East Coast Professional Showcase featured more rain, as a large storm halted activities for a few hours. The Mets and Rangers were able to get an infield/outfield session and game in, but that’s all I was able to catch. Things didn’t start again until after 4 p.m. EST and I had to head to the airport to catch my flight to Indianapolis for the 2015 Prep Baseball Report Future Games. Here are some notes from what I was able to see.
+ Daniel Bakst (Poly Prep Country Day School, NY) shifted to corner infield positions at the Tournament of Stars in deference to some good middle infielders, but he’s been playing mostly shortstop at East Coast Pro. He’ll still likely move off the position, but he has shown he has the tools to stay on the left side. He has solid actions and arm strength and can make plays on the run, keeping his body under control. There shouldn’t be any question about his offense profiling. He continued to hit balls hard this week and has a good, balanced swing with his hands in a good launch position.
