Dual Sport Athletes; Top Football Players Across the State

Football season kicks off Monday August 28th and Tuesday August 29th with Hooten’s Kick Off Classic, at War Memorial Stadium. As football season continues we will look at scouting reports from some of the top dual sport athletes. Today we will look at the top ranked football players, according to Arkansas Next Level Recruiting.

2018 RHP Connor Noland; is ranked as the top football player in the state, as quarterback at Greenwood High School. Noland is a committed to the University of Arkansas as a football and baseball player.

 


Scouting Report

Noland is a 6-foot-2 180-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He showed an advanced feel for the strike zone locating 4 pitches for strike. His fastball worked 86-89 mph with late life through the strike zone. He located a slider with 10/4 shape and a late break thrown 78-81 mph. His curveball was thrown 71-73 mph with 11.5 shape and early break. He flashed a changeup thrown 74-75 mph with arm side run, the two times he threw it. Noland pitches from an H ¾ arm slot, with quick arm speed, a short arm action, good balance and regular effort, with a simple tilt and topple delivery. He repeats his smooth rhyme, his shoulders stay level as he stays in line with home plate. He finishes upright and square to home plate. Overall Noland has a quick arm and an advanced feel to pitch with 4 pitches.  


 

2018 RHP Jaden Hill; is ranked No.9 in the overall state rankings; He is a dual threat quarterback for Ashdown High School. Hill is committed to Louisiana State University to play baseball, but had received multiple offers to play quarterback at the next level.

5.23.17 All State Game

Hill is a 6-foot-5 210-pound right-hander with a large frame and a physical build. He pitched 88-90 mph from a H ¾ arm slot with a short arm action. He threw a change up and slider. His slider was thrown 78-79 mph with 10/4 shape and early break. The change up was thrown 75-76 mph with near fastball arm speed and slight arm side run. He uses a measured delivery that is repeated consistently. He has a distinct balance point and finish square to the plate upright. Overall Hill is very physical with a quick arm, his upside is tremendous as he continues to learn how to pitch. 

 

2018 RHP/ATH Kam’Ron Mays-Hunt; is the No.21 ranked football prospect in the state; He plays receiver for Bentonville High School. Mays-Hunt is committed to Arkansas, as a two-way prospect in baseball.

Top Prospects Games

Mays-Hunt is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed pitcher / outfielder with an athletic frame and physical build. He showed advanced tools during the pro-style work out running a 6.59 in the 60. He threw the baseball 93 mph from the outfield and 92 mph across the infield. He showed raw bat speed producing exit velocities up to 91 mph. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork, and throws with short arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Offensively he starts from a tall stance with a minimum load stride combination. He attacks the baseball with a downward plane swing.  As a pitcher he shows a quick arm from a ¾ arm slot. His delivery is simple with a distinct balance point and little effort. He commands the fastball consistently in the strike zone working 88-91 mph with late life through the zone. He also throws a sharp slider with 10/4 shape and late break thrown 77-80 mph. Overall Mays-Hunt is an advanced athlete with a rawness to his game as a position player, on the mound he has a feel to pitch, and projects to throw harder. 

 

2018 RHP/OF Peydon Harlow; is ranked No.43 in the overall state rankings; He plays receiver at Harding Academy. He is the No.16 ranked player in the 2018 class in baseball and is currently the No.2 uncommitted prospect in our 2018 rankings.



Scouting Report

Harlow is a 6-foot-3 180-pound right-hander/ outfielder with a large frame and an athletic build. He pitches from a H ¾ arm slot with a quick arm with some strength to his arm action. He uses a simple tall and fall delivery with a distinct balance point. He commands the strike zone with a fastball which works 84-86 mph. He compliments his fastball with a curveball thrown 71-74 mph with 11/5 early break. Offensively he starts from a tall stance with a simple load stride combination with a slight arm bar. He attacks the baseball with normal bat speed and an uphill swing. Defensively he shows solid instincts on balls in the air and plays through the baseball with fluid footwork and a strong accurate arm. Overall a physical player with some rawness to his game, he has a high ceiling as he continues to play the game. 

 

2018 OF/INF Demias Jimerson; is ranked No. 49 in the overall state rankings; He is considered an athlete on the football field, that projects to play defensive back at the next level. He competes for Malvern High School. On the baseball field, he is ranked No.19 in the 2018 class and is the No. 4 uncommitted prospect. 




Scouting Report

Jimerson is a 6-foot, 175-pound infielder/outfielder with an athletic frame and build. He has an advanced feel to hit. He starts from a tall stance with a short left-lift and a small hand load. He uses a short swing with a line drive plane. He shows the ability to hit the baseball to all fields and shows raw power to the pull side. He runs a 6.75 in the 60. Defensively he is a sound athlete which plays with fluid footwork. He shows some stiffness to his actions on the infield. He has advanced arm strength throwing the baseball 87 mph across the infield and 88 mph from the outfield with accuracy. Overall Jimerson is an advanced athlete with a feel to hit.
