Draft League Spotlight: Ryan Hernandez
February 24, 2021
Player: Ryan Hernandez
Position: C
School: St. Louis University
A Miami native, Hernandez prepped at St Brendan HS where he was named to the 40-man roster for the U18 U.S. National Team as a senior. At SLU he has been the starting catcher since his sophomore year. He’s a high energy leader behind the dish with a plus-to-better arm and solid accuracy. He consistently shows POP times in the mid-1.9s and also receives and blocks well. In the batter’s box he shows bat strength with some length to his swing. As a defense first backstop with some power potential at the plate, Hernandez should attract plenty of interest by pro scouts this spring and summer.
