Draft League Spotlight: Rob Griswold
April 7, 2021
Player: Rob Griswold
Position: RHP
School: Long Island
Griswold started all 53 games as LIU’s primary second baseman and also made a team-high 24 relief appearances as a junior in 2019. The athleticism that drove Griswold’s success as a two-way player is apparent on the mound, where the 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-hander pairs an 88-90 mph fastball with a quality slider from a sidearm slot. The Conn. native has pitched out of the bullpen exclusively for the Blackbirds, serving as the team’s closer, but also has proved plenty capable of working multiple frames.
