Draft League Spotlight: Ray Ray Douglas
March 5, 2021
Player: Ray Ray Douglas
Position: RHP
School: Des Moines Area CC
Athletic with tons of upside on the mound, the uncommitted Covid-Freshman shows why he is one of the top arms in the JUCO ranks. Douglas works from an effortless rocker-step delivery with a long, clean high three-quarter arm action that he gets out front, using both sides of the plate with three pitches. His fastball works on a downward plane, jumping on hitters at 92-94 mph with rotation averaging 2263 rpm. His curveball is his best pitch, which shows above average 11/5 spin and depth that can be thrown in any count. The curveball sits between 79-81 mph and spins close to 2700 rpm. Douglas’ third pitch is his changeup and while still developing some feel, shows good fade action being thrown firm at 84-85 mph with spin in the low 2000 rpm range.
