Draft League Spotlight: Kevin Jimenez
May 5, 2021
Player: Kevin Jimenez
Position: 2B
School: New Mexico State
Jimenez made an impact as a true freshman in 2019, batting .327 with a .472 OBP, and was enjoying another strong start in ‘20 before the season was canceled. Despite the layoff, Jimenez has been even better so far in ‘21, showing more power to go along with his usual natural hitting ability and advanced plate discipline. Jimenez’s short left-handed swing allows him to hit to all fields. His blend of strength and bat speed already yields near-triple-digit exit velocities consistently and point to future power gains. He controls the zone well, working plenty of walks while rarely chasing pitches off the plate
