Draft League Spotlight: Cole Ayers
March 29, 2021
Player: Cole Ayers
Position: RHP
School: State College of Florida
The Cincinnati commit is an athletic, lean-bodied 6-foot-3, 180 pound righty with a quick arm. His fastball shows good sink and tail at 88-92 mph with good down angle from a three-quarter slot. Ayers has solid fastball command by keeping the ball down at the knees and to both sides of the plate, but his bread-n-butter is a hard, tight 81-83 slider which induces swing/miss as he attacks the zone with this pitch. He also mixes in a change-of-pace, thrown in the low-80s with arm side fade.
