Draft League Spotlight: Andrew Peters
February 24, 2021
Player: Andrew Peters
Position: RHP
School: South Carolina
Drafted in the 21st round by Tampa Bay in 2019, Peters is a loose-armed righty with a super quick arm. He's twitchy with an athletic delivery and a clean arm action. He gets good down angle from a high three-quarter slot and throws strikes with more control than command of his 93-96 mph fastball. It’s a firm offering with good carry to the plate and an above average spin rate. He’s more of a thrower than a pitcher at this point, but he’s a late bloomer with the potential to throw harder in the near future. He shows good feel for power curveball at 81-84 and a fading, tumbling changeup at 83-85. Both have the potential to be above average pitches down the road.
