Draft League Spotlight: Aaron Haase
April 20, 2021
Player: Aaron Haase
Position: RHP
School: Wichita State
Haase has long possessed power stuff but struggled to harness it until this season, with the third-year sophomore emerging as the Shockers’ closer en route to seven saves, a .115 BAA and 15/1 K/BB across his first 12 appearances. The 5-foot-8, 193-pound right-hander is undersized but features two impact pitches in his fastball and slider, both of which have the type of strong underlying metrics that appeal to Major League teams. Haase has learned how to be effective with his explosive heater, using the 92-96 mph offering’s 2400-2600 spin rate to challenge hitters up in the zone, while his slider is a swing-and-miss weapon that he throws at 2600-2700 with huge horizontal break.
