Another top-level Class of 2013 prospect is off the board after Downers Grove South RHP/OF Dan Mayer verbally committed to the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. Mayer, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound two-way talent, is currently ranked No. 7 in Illinois’ Class of 2013.

Mayer was a standout performer at the Prep Baseball Report Midwest Future Games, powered by Under Armour, in August. The physical right-hander impressed with his easy 85-88 mph fastball, coupled with a sharp breaking ball and changeup.  Offensively, Mayer was the only player at the event to hit a home run in game competition with wood.

Mayer is the sixth junior prospect to commit off Team Illinois’ Midwest Future Games’ roster.
