Denver id quick hits: the 2023 hitters
Englewood, CO- On January 23 , 2022, PBR Colorado started the year off with the Denver Preseason ID Event at Slammers in Englewood, Colorado. The day was full of great indoor batting cage evaluations with the opportunity to get outside on turf for our defensive evaluations.
Our staff strategically hosts Preseason ID events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise. This event gave a perfect opportunity to secure invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events such as the Centennial State Games, West Coast, and PBR Future Games and Jr. Future Games.
Today we focus on the 2023 hitters from Sunday's event.
Jase Satterfield C / OF / Grand Junction, CO / 2023Satterfield has a wide base and his hands have slight wrap. Toe tap to stride and he creates a good stack position on load. Great rotational acceleration from back side to a balanced finish. Hands create consistent line drive path with some pull side tendency. Potential as he adds strength and his top exit velo on the day was 85.8 mph. Pop times of 2.02-2.03 and an outfield arm velo of 79 mph. Athletic with the ability to play multiple positions. |
Donovan Baca OF / RHP / Green Mountain, CO / 2023Open, upright stance with slow leg lift to stride. Baca gets to front side early, but still produces good rotation. Strong upper and lower half. Slightly upward path with pull side tendency. His hands work well with some “whippyness” and his peak exit velo was 93.6 mph. Lots of potential at the dish. Baca projects as a corner outfielder with a strong arm. He was up to 82 mph from the outfield. |

Good athlete who was 74 mph across the diamond. |
Chase Cecil 2B / 3B / Ralston Valley , CO / 2023Good rhythm to load with minimal hand movement. Upright position leads to firm stride. His hips and hands are in sync and it’s a middle of the field approach. Slight intentional lift to swing with a balanced finish. Potential for power with added strength. Home to first was 3.95. The Ralston Valley product is a quick twitch, lean athlete. Upside is good! |
Nic Brusca OF / LHP / Columbine, CO / 2023Left-handed hitter with an open, shoulder width stance with gradual high leg lift load. Weight is maintained on the backside and his hands have slight out/around with pull side tendency. Brusca demonstrated strength in his BP round.
