Kyle Datres, ranked No. 2 in PA and No. 9 in the PBR combined Class of 2015 rankings, is reviving the idea that specializing in one sport is the way to go. While other highly ranked baseball prospects are applying and working on their craft 12 months out of the year, Datres juggles three sports and excels in each.
The multi-talented North Carolina baseball commit helped lead Loyalsock Township HS to a Pennsylvania AA state title last spring, going the distance on the mound in the championship tilt. The 6-foot, 175-pound SS/RHP sits in the upper 80's off the mound and has been named to the All-State Team in each of his first two high school seasons.
Datres just completed his junior season of football and was named to the AA All-State Team as a defensive back following a season in which he had 52 tackles, scored 19 touchdowns and tossed 14 touchdown passes, threw for 1,473 yards and rushed for 1,163 yards. For good measure, Datres also returned kicks and was the team's punter.
As if starring in two sports was not enough, Datres recently moved to the hardwood for his third varsity season of basketball. The guard was a 3rd Team All-State selection following a sophomore season in which he scored 9.9 points a game and directed the Lancers' offense. Through the first three games of his junior year he is averaging 7.7 points, five assists and 3.7 steals per game.
