Here is a look at the scores and highlights from all three Division I State Championship Games on Friday, May 26, 2017.
DIVISION I – A
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Loretto 4, Goodpasture 0
Ryan Weathers finished of another impressive performance, tossing a complete-game shutout and striking out 12 while allowing only 3 hits. Weathers also went 1-1 with a double, 3 walks, and a run at the plate. Jacob Laws and Jake Jackson each added a hit and an RBI of their own and Blade Tidwell finished 1-3 with a run.
DIVISION I – AA
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
CAK 3, CPA 2
Spencer Strider allowed 2 runs in the first on a Philip Clarke home run and a Blane Harris single, but settled down to shut out the Lions over the final 6 innings. Strider struck out 10 and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits through his 7 innings of work. Hudson Chastain and Garrett Breeden each had a hit and scored a run, while Robert Gee and Conner Quinn each had a hit and an RBI. Jake Tate finished 2-3 and drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 6th.
DIVISION I – AAA
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Brentwood 5, Stewarts Creek 3
John Gibson came out of the bullpen for the Bruins in the 3rd and proceeded to pitch the final 4.2 innings and allow only 1 run on 1 hit to earn the State Championship W. Kaden Dreier went 3-4 with 2 doubles and Luke Reidy finished 2-2 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs to power the Brentwood offense. Henry Glenn went 2-3 with a double and a run and Mason Keidel doubled and drove in 2 runs.
