Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from yesterday's action around the state.
McCallie 1, Brentwood Academy 0
Palmer Steventon dominated this opening round game for the Blue Tornado, as he completed the shutout by striking out 3 and only allowing 6 hits. Ethan Cady went 1-3 and drove in the only run of the game on a double in the bottom of the 5th inning. Conner Woodlee finished 2-3 with a double for the Eagles.
Grace Christian-Knoxville 5, Goodpasture Christian 4
Noah Gent led the Rams’ offensive output by finishing 2-4 with a home run, an RBI, and a run, while Justin Shaw and Hayden Coffman each contributed 2 hits of their own. Micah Wheeler also hit a home run, drove in 2 runs, and recorded the save. Hunter Ross got the win. David Wilson went 3-3 in the Goodpasture loss.
Summit 7, Siegel 2
Levi Hood went 2-3 with an RBI and Ryan McGill had a double and 2 RBI to help lead the Spartans to their opening round win. Wil Dalton and Wade Lopiccolo each added a hit and an RBI, as well. Reed Johnson had a hit and got the win on the mound. Alex Carignan had 2 hits, a home run, and 2 RBI in the Stars’ loss.
Christian Brothers 4, Pope John Paul 0
John Louis Bland and Weston Bizzle each had a hit and an RBI in the Purple Wave’s win. Bizzle also dominated on the mound, dealing a complete-game shutout and striking out 7 on 1 hit. Hayden Leatherwood and Jarret Fowlkes each had a hit and a run, as well.
Davidson Academy 9, Harding Academy 0
Hayden Hollingsworth went 2-3 with a run and 2 RBI and Ben Switzer went 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI to lead the Davidson Academy Bears to their win. Ethan Tressler and Alec Harris both had RBI extra-base hits, as well. On the mound, Brock Myers stifled the Lions all day, tossing a complete-game shutout. Myers allowed only 4 hits and struck out 10.
CAK 5, Chester County 2
Christian Academy of Knoxville’s Zane Keener finished 2-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Turner Helton added 2 hits, a double, and an RBI of his own. Hudson Chastain had a hit, a run, and 2 RBI, as well. Spencer Strider got the win, striking out 10 Chester County hitters in only 4 innings. Alex Osborne got the save for the Warriors.
Sevier County 3, Collierville 0
Devante Matthews delivered the both the no-hitter and an RBI single to lead the Smoky Bears to an opening round win on Tuesday night. Nathan Clabo also registered a hit, a run, and an RBI for Sevier County, while Charlie Brown and Kaleb Orr scored their other 2 runs. Matthews stuck out 11.
