Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from games around the state on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Knoxville Catholic 12, Hardin Valley 9
The Fighting Irish offense exploded for 11 hits, 10 walks, and 12 run in Tuesday night's victory over the Hawks of Hardin Valley. Connor Pinkard helped lead the way, as he finished 3-5 with a run and 2 RBIs on the night and was backed up by the 2-4 performances of Ryan Macdonald, Garrett Lewis, and Alex DiFelice. James Hermes earned the save by tossing the final 2 innings in scoreless fashion.
Science Hill 6, Elizabethton 2
The middle of the Topper lineup and a strong "Johnny Wholestaff" performance on the mound led them to a big win on Tuesday evening against Elizabethton. Jacob Beaird, David Bryant, Bryson Tolley, and Avery Conkin all had 2 hits and combined for 4 doubles, all 6 runs and 4 RBIs. Jackson Hill earned the W on the mound by tossing 3 innings of relief, while the other 4 innings were shared by 4 other pitchers.
Baylor 6, Chattanooga Christian 2
The Tigers of Baylor pulled out a win over Chattanooga Christian on Tuesday evening, led by Gavin Roberson and Stan King at the top of the lineup. The duo combined to go 4-4 with 2 walks, 2 runs, and 4 RBIs. Tyler Shahan went 2-3 with a run, as well. Alex Butler earned the W on the mound.
Lebanon 5, Gordonsville 0
Nick Sanders went 2-2 with a triple, 2 walks, 1 run, and 2 RBIs to help lead the Blue Devils to a win over Gordonsville on Tuesday night. Luke Bradshaw doubled and scored a run, Lathon Whittington had a hit, a run, and an RBI, and Clayton Thorne finished 2-3. Five Lebanon pitchers combined to throw a 2-hit shutout with 5 strikeouts.
Brentwood 4, Blackman 2
The Bruins earned a hard-fought victory over the Blaze of Blackman on Tuesday evening, scratching out 4 runs on 7 hits spread between 7 different hitters. Kaden Dreier had an RBI double and Patriick Queener had a hit, a run, and an RBI. Three pitchers combined to strike out 6 and allow only 2 runs in the 7 innings on the mound.
