Here is a look at some scores and highlights from regional and sub-state games around the state on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
Brentwood Academy 7, MUS 5
The Eagles pounded out 13 hits in Game 1 of their double header against MUS on Wednesday afternoon, pushing across 7 runs and getting the win. Jack Victory led the way, finishing 4-4 with a walk, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs, while Conner Woodlee and Sam Gonas both went 2-3 and combined for 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Bryce Jarvis drove in 2 and Alex Reynolds earned the W on the mound by tossing the final 1.1 innings in perfect fashion and finishing 2-2 at the plate.
Brentwood Academy 3, MUS 1
Jack Victory stepped up again in game two of this battle, as he finished 2-3 with 2 SBs, a run, and an RBI. Graham Tulloch came through for the Eagles on the mound, dealing all 7 innings and allowing only 5 hits and 1 run with 5 strikeouts. Alex Reynolds, Garrett Smith, and Sam Gonas had the only other hits for Brentwood Academy, as Reynolds and Gonas each scored a run.
Murfreesboro Central Magnet 11, Signal Mountain 9
The Tigers of Central Magnet came out swinging in their Wednesday matchup with Signal Mountain, scoring 6 runs in the top of the first inning. Dylan Jenkins, Hayden Locum, Wes Duffield, and Joey Hughes all had 2 hits and combined to drive in 7 of their 11 runs. Parker Phillips, Hunter Jones, and Patrick Norman all had 1 hit and 1 RBI, while Norman also earned the W on the mound by striking out 3 over the final 3.1 innings.
Davidson Academy 7, Hardin Academy 1
After losing Game 1 of their sub-state double header against Harding Academy, the Bears fought back to take Game 2 on the back of senior Brock Myers. Myers tossed a complete game 3-hitter with 7 strikeouts and finished 2-4 with 2 doubles at the plate. Hunter Lautzenheiser hit a solo home run and Rex Warren went 2-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI. Four other Davidson Academy hitters finished 1-3, highlighted by James Flynn's double, run, and 2 RBIs.
Farragut 1, Maryville 0
Drew Patterson, Brad Day, and Collin Grove combined to shut out the Maryville offense in Wednesday night's Region 2AAA Championship Game. Patterson tossed the first 4.1 innings with 2 strikeouts to earn the win, while Grove garnered the save by striking out 4 over the final 2 innings. Six Admirals finished with exactly 1 hit, as Brad Grenkoski's in the 4th drove in the only run of the night and Jake Grooms went 2-3.
Blackman 6, Stewarts Creek 0
Peyton Milam powered the Blaze to a regional victory on Wednesday night, finishing 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs against Stewarts Creek. Zavien Lindsey and Connor Mitchell both went 2-4 while DJ Wright and Derick Junker both provided a hit and an RBI. Jacob Jones tossed a complete game shutout, allowing only 3 hits in his 7 innings of work and striking out 3.
