Here is a look at some scores and highlights from games around the state on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
Franklin County 8, Columbia Central 4
The Rebel offense busted out 8 runs on 15 hits in Thursday's contest with Columbia Central, as 6 players contributed a multi-hit game. Shane Smith, Chase Rhoton, Cameron Yarlett, Caden Sons, and Tate Wallace all had two hits while Koby Foster led the team with 3. Rhoton had a double and 3 RBIs and Yarlett doubled with 2 RBIs. Bracken Henson earned the W on the mound.
Jefferson County 7, Morristown-Hamblen East 3
Trevor Whitley and Tyler Franklin powered the Patriots to a big win on Thursday night, combining to go 5-6 with 3 runs and 2 RBis. Franklin doubled while Brandon Saylor and Logan Flynn both contributed a hit, a run, and an RBI. Tyler Shaver earned the W on the mound, tossing 6 innings and allowing 3 runs on 7 hits with 9 strikeouts. Matt Bradley closed it out with 2 strikeouts in the 7th.
Chattanooga Christian 6, Grundy County 5 (8 innings)
The Chargers of Chattanooga Christian pulled out an extra-inning victory over Grundy County, thanks to a walk-off single by Amos Davenport. Aaron Anand went 2-2 with a walk and a run and John Rhodes finished 2-3 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. Anand also earned the W on the mound by dealing the final 2 innings in scoreless fashion.
Milan 6, Westview 5
After Westview pounded out 4 runs to take a lead in the top of the 7th, the Bulldogs of Milan came right back and put up 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, capped by Connor Creasy's walk-off 3-run home run. Jay Hatfield went 2-2 with 2 RBIs and a stolen base and Lewis Mayo finished 2-3 with a double. Hunter Wray earned the W on the mound by getting the final 2 outs in the top of the 7th.
Karns 2, Gibbs 0
Trevor Adams dealt an absolute gem for the Beavers of Karns on Thursday night, tossing a complete game shutout while allowing only 4 hits and striking out 11 in 7 innings of work. Alex Hames finished 3-3 with a double and a run to lead the offense and Jared Culp added a hit and an RBI. Brian Bell and Nick Miles had the only 2 other hits.
GCA-Knoxville 4, Greenback 2
Hunter Ross came up big for the Rams in Thursday night's victory over Greenback, as he finished 2-3 with 2 RBIs. Logan Harbin went 2-4 with a double and Ryan Medders finished with a hit, 2 walks, a run, and an RBI. Taylor Lawson earned the W on the mound by dealing all 7 innings and allowing only 2 hits and 2 runs with 3 strikeouts on only 77 pitches. Noah Gent went 1-3 with a run scored.
Wilson Central 2, Beech 1
The Wildcats of Wilson Central harnessed a stellar performance on the mound by Andrew Franklin to win a district championship over Beech on Thursday night. Franklin allowed only 5 hits and 1 unearned run in 7 innings while striking out 5. Connor Sullivan went 2-3, Mason Mobley had a hit and a run, and Ethan Shelton finished with a hit, a run, and an RBI.
