Here is a look at some scores and highlights from the district tournament games around the state on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
Smith County 7, Livingston Academy 3
Bryant Goolsby powered the Owls' offense on Wednesday night, leading them to a district victory over Livingston Academy. Goolsby finished 2-3 with a walk, a home run, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Jay Franklin earned the W on the mound by tossing 4 innings of 3-hit relief, allowing only 1 unearned run. Dylan Hackett went 3-4 with a double and a run and Nate Johnson drove in 3.
Franklin County 8, Shelbyville Central 3
The Rebels used a team effort to take down Shelbyville Central on Wednesday night, as 7 players had at least 1 hit and either scored a run or drove one in. Caden Sons went 2-3 with a home run, 2 runs, and 1 RBI and Shane Smith finished 1-2 with 3 walks, a run, and an RBI. Smith also earned the W on the mound, tossing all 7 innings and allowing only 3 runs on 4 hits.
McGavock 10, Hillsboro 6
The middle of the Raiders' lineup did some serious damage in their win over Hillsboro on Wednesday night. Mason Ward, Allen Haddix, and Mason Devault combined to go 6-10 with 7 runs and 4 RBIs. Carson Richardson and Mica Wells both had a hit and an RBI while Tyler Hernandez earned the W on the mound.
Independence 8, Ravenwood 6
The Eagles of Independence utilized a big performance from the top four hitters in their lineup, as Dillan Saunders, Robert Hassell, Sam Molnar, and Shawn Wallwork combined to go 8-15 with 7 runs and 6 RBIs. Molnar and Wallwork doubled while Saunders and Hassell both stole a base. Blake Bixby earned the win and Matthew Hargrove recorded the save.
Houston 4, Collierville 1
Houston earned a big district victory on Wednesday night, putting up a four-run 5th inning and getting a dominant performance from RHP Grayson Kemp. Kemp tossed all 7 innings and allowed only 6 hits and 1 run with 5 strikeouts. Nathan Farmer and George Sala both doubled and scored a run while Eleizer Bueno finished with a hit, a run, and an RBI. Reid Withers wend 2-3 and Terrell Tatum finished 1-3 with a run scored.
Summit 12, Independence 0
Reed Johnson and Blake Money combined to deliver a complete game 2-hit shutout in Wednesday night's district matchup with Independence. Johnson tossed the first 5 innings and allowed only 2 hits with 5 strikeouts and Money capped it off with a scoreless 6th. Chris McElvain, Nick Johnson, and Brandon Johns all went 2-3 and combined for 6 runs and 5 RBIs. McElvain doubled and homered and Johns doubled.
Arlington 5, Bartlett 0
The Tigers of Arlington got a strong performance from both Ryan Taylor and Dalton Fowler on the mound in Wednesday's battle with Bartlett. Taylor tossed 4 innings with 4 strikeouts while allowing only 1 hit and Fowler dealt the final 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 2. Tyler Gentry and Braedon Melton both went 2-3 and combined for 4 runs and 2 RBIs. Hunter Goodman finished 2-4 with a double.
