Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from around the state on Thursday, March 30, 2017.


Soddy Daisy 9, Sycamore 8
The Trojans scored multiple runs in the first 3 innings of the game to take an early lead and were able to hold of a late comeback attempt by the Eagles to clinch the victory on Thursday evening. Justin Cooke and Aaron Couch combined to go 4-6 with 3 RBI and 5 runs scored.  Couch hit a solo home run in the 5th.

Goodpasture 2, Eagleville 1
The Cougars received a strong performance on the mound from Zachary Wallace on Thursday afternoon to notch the tight victory over Eagleville.  Wallace dealt 6 innings and allowed only 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 6 and walking none.  Luke Dotson went 3-4, supplying half of Goodpasture's hits, while Cole Carter and Caleb McNamee each drove in a run. Wyatt Blessing recorded the save. 

CAK 4, Grace Christian-Knoxville 1
Garrett Breeden and Jesse Osborne delivered clutch RBI hits in the 6th inning to take the lead for good against the Rams on Thursday evening.  Osborne finished 2-3 with 2 RBI and Breeden scored a run.  Jacob Tate delivered another strong performance on the mound, tossing 4 innings and allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3.  Alex Osborne allowed a run, but got the W by striking out 5 in 3 innings of work.

Chattanooga Christian 2, South Pittsburg 1 (9 innings)
Justin Wheeler delivered a leadoff triple in the bottom of the 9th and would go on to score on a walk-off fielder's choice RBI by Chris King.  Amos Davenport finished 3-4 in the Cyclones' win and Alex Phillips contributed 2 hits, as well.  Joseph Wharton threw the first 6.1 innings, allowing only 1 unearned run and John Rhodes closed it out to tally the W with 2.2 hitless innings.

Harding Academy 7, St. George's 6
Ben Glass led off the game with a solo home run to spark the Gryphons, but was quickly quieted in the bottom of the first with a 3-run home run by Harding Academy's Casey Harford.  Jared Kirkman and Ty Wooten added 3 hits and 4 runs, while Bam Cochran delivered the walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th.
