Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from around the state on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.
Brighton 15, Ramsay (AL) 4
TJ Klutts and Dalton Rushing powered the Cardinal offense to a huge victory on Tuesday afternoon, combining to go 8-10 with 9 RBI and 6 runs scored. Klutts hit 2 home runs, a triple and a double, while Rushing had a home run and 2 doubles. Garrett Dawson also hit a home run and scored 4 runs.
Davidson Academy 8, Zion Christian Academy 0
Nick Cummings tossed a complete-game no-hitter on Tuesday night to help lead the Bears to a win over Zion. Cummings struck out 6 and allowed 3 walks. James Flynn (2-4, 2 RBI, 1 R), Marcus Watson (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R), and Brock Myers (2-3, 1 R) all contributed 2 hits for the offense.
Davidson Academy 5, Zion Christian Academy 1
Cobey Allison delivered a gem for the Bears on Tuesday evening, dealing 6 innings and allowing only 2 hits and 2 walks. Allison allowed 1 unearned run and struck out 4. James Flynn and Ethan Tressler each had 2 hits and 1 RBI to help lead the offense.
Rossview 10, West Creek 0
Gage Bradley and David Bowman each went 3-4 in the Rossview win on Tuesday night. Bradley scored 3 runs and recorded a double, while Bowman tallied 2 RBI and 2 runs with a double and a home run. Grey Epps also had a home run and 5 RBI. Elijah Pleasants tossed a 6-inning shutout, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 3 with 1 walk.
Independence 11, Dickson County 9
The Eagles were able to gut out a win over Dickson County on Tuesday night, after almost allowing a tremendous comeback. Dillan Saunders, Robert Hassell, Sam Molnar, Beaux Escobar, and Shawn Wallwork combined to go 10-18 with 6 RBI and 6 runs. Wallwork popped a solo home run in the 2nd.
McGavock 4, Hillwood 3 (10 innings)
The Raiders pulled out a 10-inning pitcher's duel by running 4 runs across the board in the top of the 10th and holding the Hilltoppers to 3 in the bottom. Mason Devault threw 9.1 innings and allowed only 4 hits and 3 runs (1 earned). Devault struck out 5 and walked 1. Carson Richardson went 5-5 and Mason Ward drove in 3 runs for McGavock.
Greeneville 6, Grainger 1
Dawson Martin, Cody Hartness, Caden Ramsey, and Jordan Idell combined to go 7-12 with 3 RBI and 4 run scored to lead the Devils' offense in their win on Tuesday evening. Austin Collins dominated on the mound, with 6.1 IP, 3 hits, 1 unearned run, 9 strikeouts, and 1 walk. Ramsey closed it out with 2 strikeouts to end the game.
Oakland 1, LaVergne 0
Jacob Pennington dominated from start to finish on the mound, tossing a complete-game no-hitter while striking out 14 and allowing only 1 walk. Zac Lemerand drove in the only run of the game with a double in the 4th inning. Tyler Proctor got the start for LaVergne and threw very well in his 5.1 innings of work.
Bradley Central 3, Ooltewah 2
Bradley Central pulled out a close one over Ooltewah in a battle of two teams that have gotten off to a hot start in 2017. Logan Newberry got the W on the mound, delivering 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4. Colton Cross notched the save with a scoreless 7th. Dylan Standifer, Jake Presley, and Byron Mantooth drove in the Bears' 3 runs.
Tipton-Rosemark 9, Fayette Academy 0
Tyler Flynn delivered a strong performance on Tuesday night to help lead the Rebels to a victory over Fayette Academy. Flynn dealt 5 innings of 1-hit baseball, tallying 6 strikeouts and allowing 0 walks. Corey Mitson, Will Turner, and Jacob Dodson combined to go 5-7 with 2 RBI and 5 runs scored in the win.
Blackman 6, Siegel 5
The Blackman Blaze were able to grind out a victory in their back-and-forth battle with the Siegel Stars on Tuesday night. Blackman received 1 hit from 5 different players and scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th with a passed ball and an RBI single from Peyton Milam to take the lead for good. Derick Junker recorded the save by tossing a scoreless 7th and tallying 2 strikeouts.
