Scores and highlights from around the state from all the Saturday action including some very good match-ups in the Louisville Invitational Tournament.
Something tells me we could see some of the very same teams squaring off in Lexington in June.
(No.1) St. Xavier 12 (No.3) Collins 2 (5 innings)
Andrew Hubbs went 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI, Andrew McCormick went 2-3 with a double, and Hayden Ford added a 2-run double as the Tigers scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th to put the game away. Ben Britt allowed 4 hits and 1 earned run with 6 K’s in going the distance.
(No.1) St. Xavier 6 DuPont Manual 1
Sam Springer went 3-4 with a double, home run, and 3 RBI to provide all the offense St. Xavier needed. Sophomore Grant Wessling continued his string of impressive starts in going the distance for the complete game 4-hitter with 7 K’s.
Dupont Manual 8 (No. 3) Collins 6
Ben Hachten was 2-3 at the plate with 2 doubles and an RBI, while teammate Sam Coryell also had two hits while knocking in two runs. Buddy Johnson went 3-3 with a triple, home run and 4 RBI in the loss for Collins.

Hunter Johnson racked up 8 K’s in going the distance to pick up the win. Johnson also homered, Joseph Hatcher added 3 hits, and Alex Miller went 2-3 with 2 RBI.
(No.7) Paul Laurence Dunbar 13 Prestonburg 3 (5 innings)
Joseph Graf went 2-3 with a triple and 3 RBI, Nicky Avioli added 2 hits and 3 RBI, and Grant Herald added 2 hits and 2 RBI in the Dunbar win. Patrick Puracchio went the distance for the win.
(No.8) Lexington Catholic 3 (No.2) Central Hardin 2 (8 innings)
Connor O’Neil drove in the winning run with a base hit in the top of the 8th. Daniel Little, Evan Fraliex, and Ben Coates each had 2 hits in the win. Griffin Neuer allowed 2 earned runs over 7 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Tom Banahan recorded the final out with the tying run on second base to preserve the victory.
(No.8) Lexington Catholic 4 (No.12) Male 1 (9 innings)
The Knights scores a run in the top of the 7th to tie it and then 3 more in the 9th for the win. Logan Taylor went 3-5 with a double and RBI, Daniel Little added 3 hits, and Riley Jackson and Michael Talbott each contributed 2 hits in the win. Evan Fraliex allowed 2 hits over 7 innings and struck out 7, and Ben Coates tossed the final 2 innings to record the win.
(No.9) Bullitt East 8 Henry Clay 4
Senior Alex Richardson was 3-3 at the plate with a double and 4 RBI. Austin Money and Alex Ralph added two hits each while combining for 4 runs scored. Chase Patton dealt 6 innings allowing 2 ER while striking out 8. Wyatt Terrell blasted a home run, going 3-4 with 2 RBI in the loss.

Sam Goode belted a 3-run home run, and Drew Schmitt added 3 hits in the win for Lone Oak. Goode went the distance on the mound, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits to pick up the win.

Nick Shumaker and Ryan Garner each collected 2 hits, and Kalen Parker tossed a complete game, 3-hit shutout as Lone Oak won its second game of the day against Power 25 teams.

Jay Hunn and John Roney each had 2 hits, and Spencer McKinney threw 4 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Trevon Metcalf collected 2 hits, and Andrew Beckmann had an RBI double to lead DeSales. Brandon Haag threw 4 scoreless innings with 5 K’s, and Beckmann pitched the final 3 innings to earn the save.
Bishop Brossart 10 Henry Clay 5
Jacob Baumann went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Nate Verst added 2 hits, scored 2 runs, and drove in a run in the Bishop Brossart win. Verst recorded the win on the mound, allowing 4 earned runs while striking out 7 in his 5 innings of work.

Evan Marquess allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits in going the distance for the complete game win.
Bardstown 5 Iroquois 1
Lincoln Doan fired a complete game 2-hitter with 7 K’s to earn the win for Bardstown.
Daviess County 3 Danville 2
JJ Poole had 2 hits and Sean Pedley doubled in the win. Pedley went the distance on the mound to record the win for Daviess County.
Daviess County 6 Fern Creek 3
Walker Owens went 2-4 with 3 RBI, and Sean Pedley added 2 hits and 2 RBI as Daviess County completed a 3-0 weekend in the LIT. Zach Burton allowed 2 earned runs in 4 innings to pick up the win.
Conner 10 Mason County 4
Dalton Harshbarger had a 3-hit game, Austin Brake doubled and drove in 3 runs, and Cameron Ross drove in 2 runs to lead Conner. Austin Price allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 7 in the complete game effort.
Madison Central 10 South Oldham 9 (9 innings)
Jimmy Wright went 3-4 with 2 doubles, a home run, and 4 RBI, and Ben Fisher went 4-4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead Madison Central to the win. Nick Kavanaugh picked up the win throwing an inning in relief.
Madison Central 9 Providence IN 1
Jonah Kelsey went 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and Cory Mullins added 2 hits as Madison Central cruised to the win. Irt Caldwell was the winning pitcher allowing 1 earned run over 6 innings of work.
Atherton 13 Thomas Nelson 1 (5 innings)
Neil DeNicola went 2-3 with 4 RBI, and Nate DeNicola and Matthew Haskell each had 2 hits and 2 RBI as Atherton cruised to the victory. Carey White struck out 10 in going the distance for the win.
Kentucky Country Day 6 Christian Co. 3
Will Smith collected 3 hits and an RBI, while Henry Crockett went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Crockett earned the win, allowing 3 hits and 2 ER over 5 innings of work. Zach Lyles pitched the final two innings, picking up the save.
Corbin 16 Jackson County 0 (5 innings)
Nick Vorbeck had a day to remember at the plate blasting 2 grand slam home runs in racking up 8 RBI for the game. Kevin Goins and Corey Ledington each added 3 hits, and Andrew Jones stroked a double and triple in the win. Jacob Metzger allowed 1 hit over 4 innings with 5 K’s to pick up the win.
Knox Central 7 Clay County 5
Jake Stewart went 4-4 with a double and 3 RBI, and Jake Nelson went 3-4 with 3 doubles and drove in a run in the Knox Central victory. Seth Hill worked 4 innings of scoreless baseball in relief to pick up the win.
Muhlenburg County 5 Butler 2
Kyle Tucker went 3-3 with a triple and scored 3 runs, and Will Broady added 3 hits in the win. Tucker scattered 5 hits and allowed 1 earned run in going the distance for the win.
Morgan County 6 Raceland 5 (9 innings)
Zach Bartley went 4-5 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 2 RBI, and Michael Williams added 3 hits to lead Morgan County to the extra inning win. Kaden Ross threw 5 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, and Bartley picked up the win, striking out 2 in the 9th inning.

Michael Williams went 3-4 with 2 doubles and drove in a run, and Kaden Ross and Lance Frederick each collected 2 hits as Morgan County won its second game of the day. Noah Kelsey tossed a complete game with 6 K’s for the win.
Franklin County 9 Jeffersontown 1
Quenton Brownlee went 3-4 with a double, triple, and 4 runs scores, Nate Cumpston stroked a double, triple, and drove in 2 runs, and Conner Brown went 2-5 with a home run and 4 RBI to lead Franklin County. Eric Andersen scattered 5 hits in going the distance on the mound for the win.

Adair fought off early morning blues (8 am start) as Trenton Watson's game winning single plated Marshall Shelley as the Indians won their 11th straight. Sophomore Tristan Beard picked up his first varsity win tossing 2 innings in relief.

Thomas Daniel went 3-5 with a double and 4 RBI, Bo Saunders went 3-4 with a double and RBI, and Hunter Sinkhorn added 2 hits and 2 RBI in the Scott County win.
Scott County 5 Conner 1
Scott Daniel went 2-3 with a double and RBI, and Lukas Mudd went the distance to pick up the win as Scott County won its second game of the day.
