Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from games around the state on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
Covington 8, Bolton 0
Ty Spoon tossed a complete-game shutout for the Chargers, striking out 3 and allowing only 3 hits in Thursday evening's victory. Ethan Whitley led the offense, finishing 3-3 with a double, a triple, a home run, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Cole Howard and Austin Baskin surrounded him in the lineup and combined to go 3-5 with 4 runs and 5 RBIs.
Lebanon 4, DeKalb County 0
The Blue Devils got a complete game shutout from Daniel Holmes on Thursday evening, as he tossed all 7 innings and allowed only 4 hits. The offense managed to push across 4 runs without recording a hit by drawing 6 walks and stealing 4 bases.
Science Hill 4, Dobyns-Bennett 3
The Toppers earned the hard-fought win against Dobyns-Bennett on Thursday night, as both teams scored all of their runs in an eventful 4th inning. Chance Hall finished 2-3 with a run and an RBI, while Ben Wooten drove in 2 with a double. Avery Conkin earned the W on the mound and Bryson Tolley recorded the save.
Siegel 9, LaVergne 0
Carson Simmons tossed 6 innings of shutout baseball for the Stars on Thursday night to help lead them to a win, striking out 6 and allowing only 4 hits and 2 walks. Drew Benefield had another huge night at the plate, finishing 3-4 with a home run, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Zach Bondurant and Zac Pearson combined to go 5-7 with 4 runs scored and Jason Chandler recorded the save.
Dyer County 3, Jackson Christian 2
Thursday night saw the Choctaws scratch out a victory with a single run in each of the final 3 innings against the Eagles of Jackson Christian. Dallas Parker went 2-3 with a run, while Zach Epperson and Landon Hooper each had a hit and an RBI. Ryan White earned the W on the mound and Hayden Campbell recorded the save.
Blackman 10, Riverdale 8
DJ Wright hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 6th inning on Thursday night to give Blackman the lead for good. Wright finished with 5 RBIs, while Connor Williamson and Peyton Milam combined to go 4-6 with 2 runs and 5 RBIs. Mateo Lozano earned the W on the mound by tossing the final 2/1 innings.
