Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from around the state on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Chattanooga Christian 9, Notre Dame 2
John Rhodes led the Charger offense on Tuesday evening, finishing 2-3 with a triple, a home run, 4 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Aaron Anand went 2-4 with a run and an RBI and Justin Wheeler added a double. Joseph Wharton picked up the W on the mound, allowing only 2 runs in 6 innings of work.
Ensworth 6, Montgomery Bell 1
Christian Dixon threw all 7 innings for the Tigers in Tuesday evening's win, allowing only 5 hits, 1 walk, and 1 unearned run. Dixon recorded 7 strikeouts and finished 1-1 with an RBI at the plate. Patrick Vandenbergh (2-4) and Drew Byers (1-3) both drove in 2 runs and Garrett Schultz had a hit and scored 2 runs.
Evangelical Christian 3, Northpoint Christian (MS) 2
ECS received a strong performance from the top of its lineup, with Nathan McMeans, Riley Watkins, and Keegan Westbrook combining to go 5-10 to produce all 3 runs and RBI's in Tuesday's win. McMeans and Westbrook each hit a home run. Houstin Harding earned the W on the mound, tossing 6 innings and striking out 12, while Watkins tallied the save.
Science Hill 13, Daniel Boone 4
The Toppers came out swinging on Tuesday evening, as Ben Grable, Bryson Tolley, and Graham Rickenbrode combined to go 9-13 with 5 runs and 6 RBI to lead the offense. Avery Conkin had 2 hits, while Jacob Beaird drove in 3 runs and recorded the W on the mound.
Hardin Valley 9, Bearden 4
The Hawks exploded for a 9-run 6th inning, highlighted by a Conner Hubler grand slam, to erase a 3-0 deficit in Tuesday evening's victory over the Bulldogs of Bearden. Seven Hardin Valley players had 1 hit, while Brock Umberger finished 2-4 with a run and 2 RBI, while also closing it out on the mound.
Jefferson County 9, Morristown-Hamblen East 0
Matt Bradley led the Patriots on both sides of the baseball in Tuesday night's win. Bradley tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 6 and finished 2-2 with 2 runs and an RBI at the plate. Jonathan Royster and Jacob Rogers each had 2 hits and combined for 3 runs and 3 RBI.
Bradley Central 6, Cleveland 2
The Bears received a well-rounded team performance on Tuesday night to earn the victory over Cleveland. Blaze Benton earned the W on the mound, allowing only 2 runs in his 6 innings of work, while Dylan Standifer closed it out in the 7th. Four Bradley Central players had a hit and a run, while Andy Bunch led the way with 2 hits and 3 RBI.
Ravenwood 10, Battle Ground Academy 5
Brennan Whitten and Peter Clifford combined to go 4-6 with 3 runs and 2 RBI to help lead the Raptor offense on Tuesday night. Whitten hit a home run and Clifford recorded a triple, while Ethan Johnson and Alec Lubas combined to drive in 5 runs. Zane Denton went 1-1 with 4 walks.
St. George's 7, University School of Jackson 4
Ben Glass led the Gryphons to victory on Tuesday night from both sides of the baseball. Glass finished 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored, while also tossing the final 4 innings without allowing a run and striking out 5. Colin Truitt finished 2-4 and Reagan Burford had a hit and scored 2 runs.
Karns 9, Knoxville Central 3
Trevor Adams put together one of the most impressive performances of the year in Tuesday night's victory over the Bobcats of Knoxville Central. Adams struck out 16 hitters and allowed only 1 hit and 3 walks in his 6 innings of work. Tyler Hartless, Jared Culp, Brian Bell, and Jacob Nelson combined to go 8-12 with 3 runs and 4 RBI to pace the offense.
Dobyns-Bennett 5, Tennessee 2
The Indians got a strong outing from Matt Taylor to earn a hard-fought victory over the Vikings on Tuesday night. Taylor tossed 6 innings and allowed only 3 hits and 2 runs to earn the W, while Jeremiah Bell closed it out in the 7th. Daniel Starnes and Logan Hullette both went 2-3 and combined for 3 RBI to lead the offense.
