The 2017 Colorado High School season is underway.  Here is a look at yesterday's action from around the state.

Daily Roundup:

Piedra Vista 2 Chaparral 1
Piedra Vista put up 2 runs in the top of the 4th inning, and Chaparral had a chance in the bottom of the 7th but came up short in this tournament games.   

Piedra Vista 1 Highlands Ranch 0
Piedra Vista then went on to play Highlands Ranch and scored their only run in the top of the 3rd.  Highlands Ranch’s Kevin Ball (2017) went 2 for 3, their pitching was outstanding.  Pitcher, Matt Blackwood (2018) pitched 6 innings allowing just 5 hits to go with 5 strikeouts.  

Grand Junction Central 6 Scottsdale Christian Academy 5
The Warriors were leading the game 6 to 0 going into the bottom of the 7th and held on to win 6-5, in this tournament game.  The Warrior’s Ryan Kirby (2019) went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s, and pitcher Caleb Dwyer (2018) pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs and striking out 6.

Fruita Monument 6 Boulder 4
Fruita Monument scored 5 runs in the first two innings and added another in the top of the 7th and hung on to win this non-league contest.  Boulder’s Aiden Chandler (2017) had a good day at the plate going 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.

Ralston Valley 5 Regis 2
Ralston Valley scored 2 runs in each the 5th and 6th inning to pull away from Regis.  Ralston Valley was led by AJ Jergensen (2019) who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, and Luke Leisenring (2018) added a HR for Ralston Valley.  Senior pitcher Tyler Phillips, threw 6 innings allowing just 2 runs to go with 7 K’s.  For the Raiders both Geno Macias (2019) and Orlando Trujillo (2018) had home runs for the Raiders 2 runs.

Longmont 6 Mountain View 3
Longmont scored in every inning but 2 and were led by Brady Renck (2019) who went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.  Pitcher Dagin Renck threw a complete game allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 7 batters.

Cheyenne Mountain 12 Discovery Canyon 5
The Indians pounded out 14 hits and scored 4 in the 1st and 4 in the 4th, to take command of the game.  The Indians, Jack Denker (2018) and Ryan Schneider (2017) each had a home run to lead the way.

Pomona 5 Valor 1
Going into the bottom of the 4th the game was tied at 0 0 but Pomona put up 4 in the bottom of the 4th to win the game.
