Addison got strong pitching performances from both Drew Defay and Cody Branch to sweep their 2013 opening doubleheader. They improve to 2-0 on the year while Hudson falls to 0-4.
Holland Calvary 4, Wyoming Lee 17
Wyoming Lee HS starting pitcher , Karon Patrick, got the season started right by throwing three hitless innings and striking out seven hitter. From there Antoni Pena and Harrison Young led the offensive attack and combined for six RBI on the day.
Orchard Lake St. Mary's 3, Dexter 2
Orchard Lake St. Mary's 5, Dexter 3
Orchard Lake St. Mary's (3-0) junior Conor Bowers and Dexter (0-2) senior Brennan Maisch battled in Game 1. Both Bowers and Maisch threw complete game gems. Bowers struck out ten Dexter hitters while Maisch countered with four strikeouts of his own and didn't allow a walk. St. Mary's jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a Dexter defensive miscue and didn't look back. Dexter had the tying run on second base in the bottom of the seventh when Bowers induced a sharply hit game ending ground ball to short.
Game 2 was also hotly contested with Dexter making a late charge and threatening to tie the the bottom of the 6th. Dexter starter senior Mackay Little struck out five and walked two falling short in his bid for the first win of the year. Jesse Howell, in his varsity debut, stuck out four and walked one. Junior Devin Rose led the offensive attack in Game 2 going 3-4 for St. Mary's as they prevailed with a 5-3 win.
Dearborn Fordson 0, Henry Ford Academy 15
Sophomore Pitcher Matthew Buhagiar and Freshman Malcolm Harris combined to throw a no hitter. Matthew threw three innings with seven strikeouts. Malcolm closed the game with one strike out. Malcolm Harris stood out at the plate going four for four with a double and three RBI's. Henry Ford Academy mercied Dearborn Fordson 15- 0 in four innings.
