This spotlight will focus on Mitch Goodwin, a 5'11, 170lbs senior from Prior Lake, MN. Mitch ranks as the #9 SS and #48 ranked prospect of the Minnesota 2018 class. At the plate Mitch generates a clean swing path from a still hand set and wide base. Minimal movement brings consistent contact gap to gap from Goodwin who improved getting his lower potions to and through the ball this past season. In the field Mitch shows natural glove skills with short, quick movements while always maintaining relaxed, fluid movements when attacking the baseball. Mitch has recently found the value of the weight room and just scratching the surface of his potential. He will be a player to watch as his career at the college level unfolds. Mitch is committed to play ball next spring at Southeast Community College in Nebraska. Southeast has fared well with recent PL players, seeing Tyler Edwards go on to be an All-American while at Southeast.

PBR: Why did you choose Southeast Community College?
I chose SCC because of their baseball program and that I believe that they can give me the skills that I will need at the next level.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Mostly other Junior Colleges around the midwest

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him (Phone calls, on-campus visits, etc.)?
I emailed coach Parks in the summer and from that point we talked over the phone all summer.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Talking to the coaches on my visit I really bought into what their program is all about and what there plan was for me for the two years I will be playing there.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
My parents have been a big help with all the money and time  they have put into my baseball I couldn't do it without them. Also ELITE sporting advising and showcases like PBR.

PBR: What plans do you have in store for you in your freshman season at your new school?
I hope to contribute in a big way on the field and help the team in anyway I can.

PBR: What advice would you give to others that are currently or will soon be going through the recruiting process?
My advice would be to not be afraid to contact schools that you would like to go to. If i never contacted SCC who knows what would've happened.

PBR: Are you competing in any fall or winter sports?
No, I am  focusing on getting stronger and faster for the spring season.

PBR: As a team PL showed growth last year, what do you think is the overall goal for the team this year. What is a strong point (pitching, defense, offense) that you feel will help your team achieve that goal?
The goal for us this year is to make a deep playoff run and I don't think going to state should be out of the picture by any means. Our offense will be able to hit for average and power this year making our lineup one to worry about for other teams.
