Co-Player of the Week 4/23/18 - 4/29/18: Kyle Lesler & Jacob Denner
April 30, 2018
Another week down, another time to highlight the top performers from the week that was. This week is another duel-prospect week – highlighting two players that won big games for their teams.
The first is Michigan recruit, 2019 LHP Jacob Denner (Bergen Catholic HS, NJ). The southpaw was dominant in two starts last week in big wins over two top teams in the state. On Sunday, Denner went the distance against a tough Don Bosco Prep team, surrendering just four hits and allowing one run while striking out five and not walking a batter. A few days later, Denner toed the rubber against one of the top Public School teams in the state, Pascack Hills. The crafty lefty went the distance again, allowing just two hits this time and striking out 11 in a 1-0 victory. Certainly deserving of some recognition for his efforts.
Denner final line from the week that was: 2 Wins: 14 IP 6 H, 16 K, 1 R, 0 BB.
The second player of note is from DePaul Catholic, 2019 P Kyle Lesler. Lesler tossed a no-hitter against Paramus Catholic, striking out 17 batters and walking three. Tough to go a week with a no-hitter that isn't deserving of a Player of the Week award – and Lesler was certainly deserving as well.
Congratulations to Kyle and Jacob on a job well done and good luck the rest of the season!
