Class of 2016 Making Immediate Impact

The 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season is just two weeks old but already a number of freshmen that graduated from West Virginia high school programs are making their mark on the college diamond.
Shortstop Paul Witt helped lead Jefferson to back-to-back West Virginia Class AAA state titles and has not missed a beat in a Virginia Commonwealth uniform. Ranked No. 1 in the West Virginia Class of 2016 upon graduation, Witt has come out of the gates on fire hitting .368 through six games with five RBI.
A pair of right-handed pitchers Jacob Bradley (Nitro) and Zac McNeel (Cabell Midland), No. 8 and No. 11 respectively in the West Virginia Class of 2016, have already seen time on the mound for Marshall.
Bradley has made three appearance totaling 3.1 innings. He has held opposing hitters to a .286 batting average while recording three strikeouts. McNeel has made one appearance to date working 2/3 of an inning without yielding a run.

OF Matt Harrison (Nitro / Marshall), #3 in WV Class of 2016
+ has played in four of seven games for the Thundering Herd while still searching for his first collegiate hit
C Matt Jewell (Nitro / Wright State), #5 in WV Class of 2016
+ yet to make his first appearance for the Raiders who are 3-3 thus far against teams ranked in the top 10 in Division I baseball.
